Perhaps Our Last Hope Dances To The Beat Of An Internal Defibrillator

Some forward thinking folks may be on to something here. Who but the whining, knee jerk, elite, poo-poo head liberals would need to hide behind something like the Constitution anyway? The man is nothing if not dashing, muscular and oozes credibility. Do you think that in this picture he's asking where the Queen got her handsome hat? - M5

Dick's the Man: Dick Cheney 2008

America is under attack from people who hate our freedom, and the Democrats are every day growing bolder in their support of the kind of radical " 21st century fascism" practiced by the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Hugo Chavez, and in their attacks on our brave troops. Indeed, the situation is so dire for our country that some have begun to ask a very relevant question: is a military coup and dictatorship the only thing which could save this great land?

There is a much more positive solution for our country, and some are already beginning to recognize it: [more]

Governments Claim Timeshare Rights in Melting Arctic

It's staggering to think of the ramifications of what this article reports on. A new land rush of governments to claim waterways and land for when you humans melt all that ice up on top (and bottom) of your planet. Just think, a timeshare on the beach with imported GMO palm trees planted outside a wonderful fake plastic igloo condo building! Now that's a place to party, eh? One giant step for mankind...

Sleep well. - Maltok 5

Reclaiming a True Global Commons in the Arctic Melt

Posted by Kathryn Milun on Wed, 05/09/2007 - 1:22pm

New territorial claims on islands and sea-routes emerging as the Arctic icecaps melt might make you laugh if you could forget the last 500 years of Euro-American expropriation and colonization. (See “Arctic Ice Melts Create New Land Rush” by Robert J. Miller, May 7, 2007.) With global warming we have a ludicrous display of national patrimony along with the usual international theft. Denmark, Canada and Russia are dispatching warships to hoist flags on frozen tundra. Bottles of brandy have been buried as proof of discovery and claim. The U.S. is also making claims in the region on behalf of an international community eager to see the emerging waterways as “neutral,” open access global commons whose assets are ready for the taking by First World nations and multinational corporations. Folks, what is this nonsense of flag raising and bogus international commons all about?

In the wake of global warming there is a vast water and land grab now taking place under the guise of international law. Who are the rightful owners of the right-of-way, resources, and wealth potential now surfacing along with the disastrous effects of global warming in the Arctic region? Can the legal tradition of a global commons be invoked at the international level to secure justice in this new domain? [more]

There’s a Hole in the Bucket

By Chris Nelder

That does it. Time to set this record straight.

If I get one more email petition asking me not to buy gasoline on some day or another, or from one company or another, I'm gonna scream.

Some consumers actually decided not to buy gasoline yesterday, because an email chain letter suggested that if enough of them stayed away from the pumps on May 15, it would bring prices down.

Get a grip, people.

Such tactics could never reduce the price of gasoline. And that chain letter has been going around since 1999.

One instance claimed that if all 72 million MySpace users participated in the "gas-out," it would bring the oil companies to their knees by depriving them, at $30/tankful, of $2 billion in revenue that day. (Huh, I only wish I could fill up my tank for $30!)

Eeeyeah . . .

Before I get into this flawed math, allow me to cite yet another nursery rhyme . . . after all, everything we needed to know we learned in kindergarten, right?

FREE the evil galactic overlord named XENU

Isn't it time to let Xenu go free? He's been locked up for 75 million years. So what if he blew up trillions of people, implanted their souls into our human bodies and this is now the main cause of all our problems today. Hey, we all make mistakes.

Xenu and I, Maltok 5 have been sworn enemies for the last 36 million years, (but who's counting?) I think it's finally time to bury the hatchet. -Maltok 5

Consumans - Not A Pretty Picture

Boy, the raw consumption of humans is always astounding, but when depicted in artistic form, brings the sheer volume home... with a vengeance. Check out these beautiful and terrifying art pieces by artist Chris Jordan; and be sure to "zoom in." Thanks to Chris Nelder of the GetRealList and Energy and Capital for posting this on his venerable energy blog. Now get back to consuming... the world won't end itself now, will it? -Maltok 5

Running the Numbers
An American Self-Portrait
By Chris Jordan

This new series looks at contemporary American culture through the austere lens of statistics. Each image portrays a specific quantity of something: fifteen million sheets of office paper (five minutes of paper use); 106,000 aluminum cans (thirty seconds of can consumption) and so on. My hope is that images representing these quantities might have a different effect than the raw numbers alone, such as we find daily in articles and books. Statistics can feel abstract and anesthetizing, making it difficult to connect with and make meaning of 3.6 million SUV sales in one year, for example, or 2.3 million Americans in prison, or 426,000 cell phones retired every day. This project visually examines these vast and bizarre measures of our society, in large intricately detailed prints assembled from thousands of smaller photographs. [more]

The Man In Black

I dig this track. -maltok

Lyrics: Man Comes Around (by Johnny Cash)
There's a man going around taking names
And he decides who to free and who to blame
Everybody won't be treated all the same
There'll be a golden ladder reaching down
When the Man comes around

The hairs on your arm will stand up
At the terror in each sip and in each sup
Will you partake of that last offered cup?
Or disappear into the potter's ground
When the Man comes around

Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers
One hundred million angels singing
Multitudes are marching to the big kettledrum
Voices calling, voices crying
Some are born and some are dying
It's Alpha and Omega's kingdom come

And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree
The virgins are all trimming their wicks
The whirlwind is in the thorn tree
It's hard for thee to kick against the pricks

Till Armageddon no shalam, no shalom
Then the father hen will call his chickens home
The wise man will bow down before the throne
And at His feet they'll cast their golden crowns
When the Man comes around

Whoever is unjust let him be unjust still
Whoever is righteous let him be righteous still
Whoever is filthy let him be filthy still
Listen to the words long written down
When the Man comes around

Hear the trumpets, hear the pipers
One hundred million angels singing
Multitudes are marching to the big kettledrum
Voices calling and voices crying
Some are born and some are dying
It's Alpha and Omega's kingdom come

And the whirlwind is in the thorn tree
The virgins are all trimming their wicks
The whirlwind is in the thorn tree
It's very hard to kick against the pricks

In measured hundred weight and penney pound
When the Man comes around.

Close (Spoken part)
And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts
And I looked and behold, a pale horse
And his name that sat on him was Death
And Hell followed with him.

Left, Right, Left, Right, Left, Right...

Full left ain't the answer neither... Chavez is one to look out for. But at least he's more direct about nationalizing/shutting down the TV network; your rights and liberties are just being taken over slowly and oh so much more subtley ... so that you don't notice.

From the Washington Post:

Dead Air in Caracas

Monday, May 14, 2007; Page A15

For years defenders of Venezuelan President Hugo Ch?vez have harped on what they described as the domination of the country's independent media by his opponents -- proof, it was said, that Ch?vez was no dictator. Two weeks from today that argument will lose all credibility. By then, Radio Caracas Television, or RCTV, Venezuela's most popular television network, will almost certainly be off the air -- on Ch?vez's personal order.

A lot has been happening in Venezuela the past few months. Having obtained the power to rule by decree from a rubber-stamp congress, Ch?vez has nationalized telecommunications and electricity companies, taken over oil fields developed by multinationals, and formed a single pro-regime political party. For Venezuelans, however, the loss of RCTV will be the greatest shock. For 53 years the television network has been a national institution, counted on for its wildly popular soap operas and variety shows as well as for its news coverage. It was on RCTV that Venezuelans saw Neil Armstrong step onto the moon in 1969, the first live-from-satellite broadcast in the country's history.

How About That Global Warming

Well folks,
Here's a little news video from the BBC. Seems some people purporting to be Christians (while they gladly condone sending our youth to slaughter...little yellow ribbon decals on their SUVs saying "support the troops!") have been arguing as to whether or not climate change/global warming is actually occurring. Friends, now I've spent some time in the south and lemme tell you. The right wing wolves in christian clothing have been fighting this reality for years. Ah well, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him swim on his back in the empty aquifer..."

Today's "Gallileo's Ostrich Head" Award goes to Jerry Falwell this time around for supreme and total denial . A round of applause please. Read it and weep. Er, better watch it. realplayer -Maltok
(posted before the news of Rev. Falwell's death... However, he still was a major hypocrite and blatantly twisted and fabricated what Jesus said to further his agenda of hate and intolerance. IMHO. M5)

US Christians split on climate

Evangelical groups in the US are divided over climate change, with some claiming it to be a conspiracy.

Poodle Hides Bone...

Direct from the Atlantic Free Press:

Parting Shot: Blair Jails Two to Shield "Madman" Bush

Written by Chris Floyd
Saturday, 12 May 2007
by Chris Floyd

These are days of troubled sleep. As in a dream, you walk familiar streets, living out your ordinary life – going to work, having love affairs, watching sports, getting the car fixed, worrying about bills, fighting a toothache, taking kids to school, listening to music – and everything seems as it was before, as it always was; you seem to be what you always were: a free person in a free country. Then some discordant noise reaches your mind; you stir, you open your eyes, and you remember: that's not how it is here anymore.

For citizens in the world's two "leading democracies," the United States and Britain, these rude awakenings come at regular intervals now, piercing through the incessant roar of static from the media engines of sell and spin. A story catches your eye – usually something buried beneath the "big news" of the day – and once again you're tumbled from your private concerns into a dreadful realization of where history has taken you: into a strange hybrid world of unfree freedom, where you can say what you want, do what you want – unless those in power arbitrarily decide that you can't. In 99 cases out of 100, they'll leave you alone (as long as you're white and look non-threatening; if not, that ratio drops considerably). But this liberty is illusory; it no longer has a physical reality, or even a statutory one. It is now a "gift" of the authorities, one which they can bestow – or revoke – according to their own, ever-shifting needs and desires.

Crossing the Rubicon
Simplifying the case against Dick Cheney

by
Michael Kane

January 18, 2005 (FTW) - In an argument of over 600 pages and 1,000 footnotes, Crossing the Rubicon makes the case for official complicity within the U.S. government and names Dick Cheney as the prime suspect in the crimes of 9/11. Since the publication of this book (to which I had the privilege of contributing a chapter), many people have asked to hear the case against Cheney argued "short & sweet."

I will make it as short as possible, but it can never be sweet.
There are 3 major points made within this book that are crucial to proving Cheney's guilt. I shall first list them and then go on to prove each point as laid out in Crossing the Rubicon.

1. Means - Dick Cheney and the Secret Service: Dick Cheney was running a completely separate chain of Command & Control via the Secret Service, assuring the paralysis of Air Force response on 9/11. The Secret Service has the technology to see the same radar screens the FAA sees in real time. They also have the legal authority and technological capability to take supreme command in cases of national emergency. Dick Cheney was the acting Commander in Chief on 9/11.

Did Anyone Else See This?
Is this true? Does anyone have a screen grab? An e-mailer says:

"CNN International's CNN Today program, airing at midnight Eastern, led with the graphic 'Bush Resigns.' Of course, they meant 'Blair Resigns.' Freudian slip on the part of a network accused of anti-Americanism?"

This appeared on screen for 12 seconds. (Two seconds before, President Bush had appeared on screen, but the chyron accurately said "Pressure over Iraq.")

Tick Tock Tick Tock - Dubya's On The Ropes

More good news for Bushco...

Washington Post Article

From the Copeland Institute for Lower Learning:
GOP to Dubya: "You have no credibility on Iraq"

1 YEAR, 8 MONTHS AND 9 DAYS LEFT
IN THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION

Is this the breaking point all reasonable people have been waiting for? It's too soon to tell and given Dubyaland's intransigence, it might not end up meaning a whole helluva lot, but it's still promising, even if the congressional Republicans are more concerned with their own jobs than the lives of our troops. more

You're Doin' A Helluva Job, Karl...

I find this humorous to the power of 10. As an outsider, I've watched many groups over the centuries claim the power and blessings of God, while actually duping and essentially fucking over the very believers who put their trust in them. Bush is just a too obvious example. And now through his puppet master, Karl Rove, well some chickens are comin' home to roost.

Habeas Corpus - We Hardly Knew Ye

Okay, so you Earthlings are a docile lot. Like sheep to the slaughter, lemmings to the precipice, you just let it happen to you, then complain when it's too late.

Well.... IT'S ALMOST TOO LATE!!!!

Habeas Corpus - that funny sounding little legal term that actually guarantees much of what we have come to take for granted as our basis for liberty in this country, has been (ironically enough in light of 9/11 theories) hijacked. It happened last year.

You Earthlings should wake up, call, write, visit your congressional representatives and BE A SQUEAKY WHEEL!!

Behold! A Pale Horse

Maltok 5's favorite band. Behold!

Greetings Earthlings, Puppies and All Omnivores

I am Maltok 5, ruler of all Earth and several other C grade planets nearby. I was kicked out of the Supreme Council on my home planet after running several grifting scams that went awry and landed me in dutch with what your Earth president calls the "Guv'mint."

I have been esconced in my secret bunker here on Earth (timeshares available... please email for details) for 100,000 of your Earth years. It has been my pleasure and sworn duty to watch over this planet and report back to my Guv'mint whether or not Earth should be converted to a new interplanetary timeshare. (Are you sensing a theme here?) So far, I've held them off from such a thing, as it would make all of you humans into the equivalent of plankton for the tables of visiting travelers.

So, to that end I have seeded many of the things you all claim to be your technological "revolutions." Things like velcro, processed cheese, staple guns, Yanni and a host of other things in the hopes you folks would start evolving quicker. So far, it's not working so great. Oh, I also "did it" with a bunch of monkeys a LONG time ago, and now you know how the "great leap forward" occurred.

Anyhoo, I just wanted to introduce myself a bit, so you could get to know me before the impending annihilation of all you know and love.

Be good and try to keep your nose clean.

LOL,
Maltok 5
